Meet the Eastern Milksnake
The Eastern Milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum) is a fairly common snake found throughout Maryland, and it is non-venomous. These snakes live in many different habitats, such as rocky hillsides, deciduous forests, and open fields. They are often found under objects and debris. The Eastern Milksnake, completely harmless, is often confused for the Northern Copperhead, which is venomous to humans. As a predator, the Eastern Milksnake does a good job at keeping the populations of small mammals, birds, and smaller reptiles down. The largest issue facing the eastern milksnake is habitat loss due to construction and development. To learn more about the Eastern Milksnake, visit https://www.paherps.com/herps/snakes/milksnake/
