Join us at 10 a.m. for coffee and treats. Meeting will start at 10:30 am and last about an hour. Topics will include:
Guest Speaker Than Hitt, from USGS Eastern Ecological Science Center in Kearneysville, WV will discuss the impacts of warming temperatures on fish populations and, in particular, the checkered sculpin which live in the upper Potomac watersheds.
a review of local stream temperatures recorded by the loggers placed in streams by ACWA/BCWA volunteers.
interesting findings from aquatic insect surveys completed by ACWA/BCWA last March and analyzed by MD-DNR.
concerns from bacteria studies completed by Potomac Riverkeeper Networks and ACWA/BCWA volunteers in 2022.
Optional: Post-meeting walk to nearby Beaver Creek for some nature spotting (weather-dependent).
Attendees will also hear about Citizen Science sampling plans in 2023 and how interested persons can sign up to help.
