ACWA's FIRST Student Board Member
ACWA Board of Directors recently created an opportunity for young people to become more involved with the organization by establishing a limited number of Student Board Member positions. These student leaders will help guide ACWA with their youth voice and involvement.
Our first Student Board Member, Zander Hine has a strong sense of environmental advocacy and, along with his immediate family members, has been active with ACWA for several years. Zander is always helpful during hands-on work days and he has engaged in several letter-writing campaigns about excessive trash and the need for trees in our watersheds.
We asked Zander to tell us more about himself:
"My name is Zander Hine and I am ACWA’s first Student Board Member. I am a freshman at North Hagerstown High School, where I’m also on the Tennis and Basketball teams as well as Key Club.
I’ve been volunteering with ACWA for about 3 years. I’ve been a part of Trees Not Trash since the very beginning, I’ve been to several tree stewardship events and a part of trash cleanups throughout the city. I have recruited volunteers from my other involvements in Scouts BSA and Key Club at North High. My hopes are to get students and friends involved in ACWA’s works and educate others to the great things that ACWA does in the community."
If you are interested in helping guide and lead ACWA's future? Several Board seats are open. Volunteers are Needed. Visit our About Us Page to learn more about Board of Director positions.
