Seeking Urban Properties for Free Trees
The Antietam-Conococheague Watershed Alliance (ACWA) is seeking property owners willing to participate in a free tree planting project. Our goal is to green communities, enhance the quality of community livability and habitat biodiversity while also improving the health of local waterways.
ACWA is currently seeking grant funding to coordinate tree plantings in urban areas within our watersheds. We would love to connect with organizations, businesses, and communities to determine eligibility for the free tree plantings. Some basic guidelines below:
Trees will be planted & maintained by contractors and/or volunteers between 2022-2025.
Native tree species will be selected based on site specific factors, availability, and will be done in collaboration with the property owner.
Outreach materials on the benefit and care of trees will be provided by ACWA.
Interested organizations/property owners will need to provide a written letter in support of both the installation of trees and the maintenance afterwards.
The tree planting program is not guaranteed until funds are secured by ACWA.
If you are interested in this opportunity or would like more information, please contact us as soon as possible at info@acwamaryland.org. Our project list will be submitted on February 26th for consideration.
