Volunteer plant street trees in Hagerstown
Under a Keep Maryland Beautiful Grant, ACWA volunteers beautified four blocks in the City of Hagerstown with large caliper trees. On November 21st over 15 people participated in the 2020 Trees Not Trash event, planting 31 trees which resulted in a total of over 70 volunteer hours contributed to the project just on that one work day. Educational flyers on specific street tree species were developed to neighbors information on the specific tree species planted near their home and included some additional educational information on tree benefits.
ACWA would like to acknowledge the City of Hagerstown Engineering Department for their commitment to increasing the tree canopy in the City and partnering in the Trees Not Trash Event. The city providing drilling services, mulch, and tree stakes to the effort.
