Many hands are needed to plant over 8000 native shrubs and perennials in stormwater bioswales at Hagerstown Community College (HCC). Funded by at Chesapeake Bay Trust Green Streets, Green Jobs, Green Towns (G3) grant*, ACWA and the Chesapeake Conservation Landscape Council (CCLC) is assisting HCC in replanting 11 bioretention swales to protect local water quality. The parking area is designated as “Lot O” on the HCC campus map.
Volunteer will be helping:
plant native plants and grasses in plug and quart sizes, in the last two swales in the plarking lot
ACWA will provide all the supplies, gloves, and hand tools needed. Volunteers should:
Dress in layers for the weather
Wear close toe shoes and consider wearing a hat for sun protection.
Bring own refillable drinking water bottle.
Optional: own gloves or favorite hand trowel. Please mark any personal tools with your name
Workdays are eligible for public school Student Service Learning Hours (SSL). Older minors may volunteer with an adult present. Every volunteer must complete a volunteer waiver form which is provided online via the registration link below.
